The Safety of Every Child Comes First
At Let There Be Light Christian Residential Academy (LTBL), safeguarding is not a policy we keep on file. It is the framework every other decision sits inside, including convenience, urgency, and even good intentions.
OUR COMMITMENT
Every child who comes into contact with our programmes, whether through the Time-Out Initiative, a future residential placement, or any LTBL activity, is protected by the same standard: real screening, real oversight, and real accountability, grounded directly in Jamaica's Child Care and Protection Act, 2004.
WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE IN PRACTICE

Every staff member, tutor, mentor, and volunteer completes a background and police record check before any contact with children

No adult is ever alone with a single child behind closed doors

All physical interaction follows the child's lead, never an adult's initiation

Photography or any use of a child's image requires clearance in advance, never after the fact

A documented Code of Conduct governs every person who works with our children, with clear consequences for any violation
IF YOU HAVE A CONCERN
REPORT IT THE SAME DAY
Concerns can be raised directly with our Director of Child Welfare and Safeguarding, and every report is treated seriously, whether or not it turns out to require further action. Silence is the only response we consider unacceptable.
